The Curtis Creek study site is located at the Hardware Ranch up Blacksmith Fork Canyon. Curtis Creek is owned by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) and is the site of a stream restoration project roughly a decade ago.

The study site has also been the focus of an ongoing study from Beth Nielson's lab where they have been looking at hyporheic and temperature dynamics (e.g. Bingham 2009).
